Garrett began his career 20 years ago at Toni and Guy after having accepted a position as an apprentice, where he assisted the late Gaetano Mascolo,( Yes the Guy of Toni and Guy.) “He is whom I most admired, looked up to and wished to emulate. Guy is solely responsible for forming my educational foundation, my work ethic and my love of the craft.” says Garrett.
Garrett has managed several successful salons. He has served as an educational director for Aveda and has traveled the nation teaching advanced hair cutting techniques, teacher training, receptionist training, personal growth and development as well as his own celebrated hair cutting program.
Garrett discovered that leasing a station gave him the freedom and flexibility to pursue his many industry successes, while still being able to cater to his discerning clientele. “With leasing a station I witnessed a lot of things that worked….and a lot that didn’t” says Garrett. This is where, for him, the seed for Muse was planted.
Together in 2007, he and best friend Color Specialist, Cris Baadsgaard founded Muse the salon. The open concept, cozy-chic, no mean people allowed success story on North Henderson Avenue!
Garrett still works five days a week to serve his A list clientele. And although they keep him busy with cutting and styling, smoothing and curling, extensions or hair and make up for special events, he insists time always remains to meet a new client. “My books will never be closed……………………….how boring!”
